Celebrate the TaTas 2023

Our Celebrate the TaTas 2023 events consist of Painting Days and The Reveal Day. The Painting Days are a fun filled experience for participants and volunteers alike. Volunteer artists will be painting TaTas, volunteer photographers will be taking pictures of the completed artwork and there will be vendors and snacks to keep everyone busy while waiting.

The Reveal is a celebratory fundraising event at 11:30am on October 26th at Maggiano’s Little Italy in SouthPark. Our guest speaker will be Rabbi Judith Schindler, Sklut Professor of Jewish Studies and Director of the Stan Greenspon Center for Peace and Social Justice at Queens University of Charlotte.

We are always in need of more volunteers to help out during the events to make them run as smoothly as possible. Celebrate the TaTas 2023 will have multiple local events:

Painting Days - August 2023

Painting Days are the heart and soul of Celebrate the TaTas. In August, women had their TaTas painted by female artists. The artists painted original designs on human canvasses and were photographed by female photographers.

The experience was so empowering for all who participated.  For the first time ever, we had a male survivor, who had undergone a mastectomy, volunteer to be painted. It was a difficult decision for him yet, he was thrilled with the result created by our local artist Peggy Williams. He proudly displayed her work to all who asked to see it.  We hosted several female mastectomy and breast cancer survivors and thrivers. Their stories imbued us with the importance of the fundraising efforts for HMO’s Cancer Research.

The TaTa pictures will be unveiled as a photo collage at our Reveal on October 26 at Maggiano's Little Italy in SouthPark.
